Lombok is the largest island to the east, virtually being the size of Bali, but is far less touristy. To get there, you can catch one of many daily passenger ferries, or fly direct from Bali International airport (DPS) to Lombok International airport (LOP), only a 30 minute flight, as opposed to ferry which will take several hours and cost about the same.
Lombok’s capital is Mataram, but isn’t touristy and quite Muslim influenced, so you wont find much night life or traditional points of interest. You’ll find more relaxed vibes in the town of Kuta to the south, and Mangsit to the north west. Both offer chilled resorts and cheaper accomodation, with stunning beaches and great surfing in dry season.
You will find very uncrowded beaches and super chilled tiny island vibes in the islands around the south west of Lombok, all offering a few accomodation options, and more chill time than you could ever need, with stunning diving right at the beach front, in similar fashion to Gili Air tot he north.
